I'll let the pictures do most of the talking

There is probably a lot I'm forgetting, but this is what I can remember from my first 2 months in Japan. I've been ridiculously busy!

This is the plane that took us from Chicago to Tokyo (13 hours. 13. hours.). Japan Airlines really does have incredible customer service, especially compared to the horrible flight attendants on the american airlines flight to Chicago. Liz and I asked and we got a seat in between us so we got to spread out. There were screens in front of us and no one behind us, and we got to fly on the second story of the plane. Here's the flight path:

We flew over the Rockies and Alaska. We only got to see a little of the rockies from REALLY high up and nothing of Alaska, but I still feel I have bragging rights XD Anyways, after 26 hours in airports and on airplanes, we arrived at Narita airport in Japan. It would have more exciting had I not felt like I was dying.

After we got to Kansai airport in Osaka, a shuttle took us on the 2 hour drive between Osaka and Kyoto. Having not really slept for 30-something hours at this point, I was a little out of it. So, we went to a convenience store for some dinner. I tried to buy a sandwich, drink and pudding for 5000 yen (50$)!

Funny thing is, it only cost 500yen (5$). The attendant at the store was really nice about and gave me back the extra money. I ate and went to bed, but when I woke up I noticed something:

mountains!

I REMEMBERED

If you've been checking here to see what's up in Kyoto and have been repeatedly disappointed my lack of posting, it is because I forgot my login and password. Well, HURRAH! For at last, I have remembered. I'll start telling everyone about my first month little by little. For now, I'll wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and I'll post pictures which I will explain later in my photobucket account (there's a link in the side bar, sorry if it's hard to see). Everything is going AMAZINGLY (I LOVE KYOTO). That's all for now.

Welcome!

Hello! I've created this blog so friends and family (and strangers, if they're really that interested) can follow my adventures in Japan. There will be much more activity after school starts in September!
Here's what I know so far:
• I'm going to Kyoto University of Foreign Studies (Kyoto Gaidai for short, click here for the english site)
• I'm leaving at 7:55 on September 2 from Pearson Int'l Airport, going to Chicago O'Hare. From there I'm getting on a 13 hour (!) flight to Tokyo Narita Airport, and then there's another 2 hour flight to Osaka Kansai Airport, staying the night in Osaka and then getting escorted to Kyoto.
• Orientation is the first two weeks of September
• There are a ridiculous amount holidays
• There are no pictures of the dorms ANYWHERE on the internet. ANYWHERE.
• I get to come home for a visit on February 13th~~~~~~~~~
• I'm going to be documenting every corner of Japan on my camera, so watch for more pictures than you can fathom.
• I might be going to Tokyo from September 20th-23rdish. I might also be going to Korea, if I'm not worried about nuclear bombs dropping.
•I'm going with my buddies Liz P. and Sarah S.~~
Ahaha, I guess I'm officially a blogger now. Let the mocking commence.
